Multi-Head Banding Machines
The speed at which your products leave your production process can be a reason to use a banding machine with two, three or more banding heads. High-tech distribution systems, Servo-driven pushers and sensor technologies ensure a perfect banding process.
Single-head throughput is covered by automatic machines. For anything outside the standard range, see tailor-made machines.
Benefits of multi-head banding machines
- Highest production speeds
- Easy to combine with stacking and flexible printing
- Many options and applications
Designed for the highest production speeds
A multi-head banding machine can be a great option if the speed of the banding process has to correspond with the speed of your production process. But the the final decision for a multi-head machine depends on many factors. We are happy to help you, feel free to speak with our experts!
Tailor-made for your process
We design and build tailor-made machines in close cooperation with your technicians. The specifications of your product and process are leading during the consultation. Contact us to find out more about the many Bandall options.
How a multi-head banding machine works
A multi-head machine spreads the products over two, three or more Bandall banding heads that work in parallel. A distribution system with servo-driven pushers and sensors feeds each head in turn, so one head is banding while the next product is already on its way. The result is a banding speed that keeps pace with fast production lines, without slowing down upstream machines.
With six heads, a Bandall multi-head machine bands up to 120 products per minute. Single-head automatic machines such as the Bandall TRC reach around 25 bundles per minute, so a multi-head set-up is the step up when one head is no longer enough.
Key facts
- Up to 120 products per minute with six banding heads
- Maintenance without stopping the line: one head can be serviced while the others keep running, or swapped for a spare head
- Vacuum feed-through system that keeps the band from getting stuck, for maximum uptime
- Built for long service life: the machines keep running after 25 million cycles
- Paper and film bands, with quick changeover between materials
- Variable data such as dates, batch numbers and barcodes printed on the band during banding
- Easy to combine with stacking units and flexible printing
- Simple to operate, no technical skills needed
When does a multi-head machine make sense?
The choice depends on more than speed alone. We look at the output of your line in products per minute, the size and variety of your products, the space available, how products arrive (single, stacked or in groups) and whether you need printing on the band. Every multi-head machine is configured to the customer’s line, so the number of heads and the layout follow your process, not the other way round.
Industries
Multi-head machines are used for food, pharmaceutical secondary packaging, cosmetics, e-commerce, corrugated boxes, post-press print finishing, textiles and commercial laundries, EPS and XPS products, and by machine integrators. Typical jobs are bundling, branding, labelling, retail-ready packaging and tamper evidence.
Frequently asked questions
How fast is a Bandall multi-head machine?
Up to 120 products per minute with six heads. The speed of your machine depends on the number of heads, the product and the band.
Does the line stop when one head needs maintenance?
No. One head can be serviced while the other heads keep running, and a head can be swapped for a spare.
Can a multi-head machine print on the band?
Yes. Dates, batch numbers, barcodes and other variable data can be printed on the band during banding.
How do we know how many heads we need?
Send us your line speed, product dimensions and a short description or video of your line. We work out the right configuration with Bandall in the Netherlands and come back with a proposal.
