Banding Film and Film Bands
Banding material made of film is available in many types and sizes. The choice for a certain type of film depends on the customer’s wishes and the specifications of the product. The band thickness is expressed in mµ. Bandall’s advanced vacuum band feed-through system is able to process the thinnest banding material available on the market; starting at 35 mµ.
Where banding film is the right choice
Banding film seals tight and holds where paper cannot. Frozen packs, chilled trays with surface condensation, and anything that has to survive a damp warehouse all run better on film.
Transparency is the other reason. A clear film band holds the pack without hiding it, which matters when the product itself is the selling point and the band is only there to hold the bundle together.
Film also takes a tighter seal. The heat seal on a film band is a fused bond rather than a glue line, so the band cannot be worked loose in transit the way a poorly stored paper band sometimes can.
Widths and printing options match the paper range, so switching between the two on the same machine is a roll change and a tension setting.
On dry and ambient packs a paper band costs less and recycles more easily. If you are weighing the two up, compare them side by side.

The way in which waste is processed in each country determines the success of these materials.
