What banknote banding has to guarantee
Banknote banding has two jobs that ordinary bundling does not: the count must be exact, and the bundle must show if it has been opened. A sealed paper band does both. It cannot be slipped off and replaced without breaking.
Serial ranges, denomination, date and operator code are printed onto the band as it is applied, so each bundle carries its own audit trail. The same applies to vouchers, certificates, tickets and secure documents.
Print finishing and label bundles use the same counted band.
