Tuna promotions are often sold as bundles: three cans held together for one shelf offer. Most of those promotional bundles are shrink-wrapped over the whole pack, which uses far more film than the promotion needs. Does the shape of the bundle decide whether banding can work? This live demo answers that question with a 28 mm printed band, on one machine.
The operator places the three-can bundle on the machine table and feeds it into the arch. The band is applied around the bundle and cut in one cycle. The next bundle goes in straight after. The demo covers both a round stack and a rectangular bundle, so the shape of the promotion is not a reason to skip banding.
The band wraps around the bundle the same way whatever the shape. You do not need a new pack design before you can band it, which keeps the promotion you already have on the shelf.

Shrink film covers the full bundle. A 28 mm band covers only the strip the promotion needs. In the tuna example, the band uses up to 70% less material than shrink-wrapping the whole bundle.
The saving depends on the product size and the band roll used, so it will differ between products. A chip bundle and a tuna bundle, for example, will not show the same figure. Always compare with the shrink wrap you use today, on the same bundle. See also shrink wrapping vs banding.
The video shows the band going on quickly, one bundle after another. In this setup the machine runs up to 1,200 packs per hour.
The band is fully printable. Brand, logo and barcode can sit on the promotion strip, so the bundle reads as a finished shelf pack rather than a wrapped stack, and dates or batch numbers can be printed during banding.

Three things decide the result: the size of the bundle, the band width (this demo uses 28 mm), and the band roll. Send us the bundle dimensions and your promotion artwork, and we will confirm the band roll and the material saving for your product.
For band widths, roll lengths and paper or film specifications, see our guide to banding materials.
