The first question most buyers ask about a banding machine is not speed. It is whether someone on the line can run it on the first day. This video shows how easy a stand alone machine is to operate. The setup is short, and an operator who has never seen the machine can usually run it within minutes.
Four things: power, an air compressor, a roll and your product. That is the whole list. The smallest stand alone unit weighs about 75 kilos and sits on four wheels, so it can move to wherever the line needs it.
The band loop forms inside the arch before the pack arrives. The operator places the pack in the arch, and the machine draws the band out, closes it around the product, tensions it, seals the overlap and cuts. Nothing has to be threaded around the product, and the pack is never lifted or turned.
Operators are usually running the machine on their own within a few minutes. There is no training course to attend first.
The quoted figure for a single-head machine is up to 1,200 packs an hour. That is not the ceiling. On a stand alone unit the operator sets the pace, and we have seen 22 packs a minute in practice. If one person cannot keep up, a multi-head machine is the next step.
With an unprinted roll, or a roll with only your branding, nothing changes when you switch product. Only a printed roll that carries product-specific data, such as a barcode, needs swapping. That takes about two minutes, and there is no tooling involved.
Send us a sample and we will run it on the machine at a free banding demo in Dubai. To compare models, see our stand alone banding machines, or how banding is used in food packaging. Email sales@bandallmiddleeast.com or message us on WhatsApp at +971 50 547 7231.
Day-to-day running is done by the line operator, usually within minutes of first use.
No. Usually only the roll changes, and only when the print is product-specific.
