EPS and XPS products are produced in various ways. This material is usually used for insulating or protecting appliances. The material leaves production shaped as plates, panels and mats and is then often packaged or bundled in shrink film. An unnecessary amount of packaging, since one or two thin bands can suffice. A reduction of packaging material of 80% or more is no exception.

Why EPS banding needs gentle tension

EPS banding is about what the band does not do. Expanded polystyrene dents under point pressure, and a narrow strap will crush a visible groove into a block or a moulding before it holds anything. A wide band spreads the load across a surface the foam can take.

EPS is also light, so bundles are bulky rather than heavy. The tension needed is low, and the vacuum feed guides the band around the block without dragging across the surface and shedding beads.

Plastic profiles and rolled mats take the same gentle handling.
